BOLD TEACHING. EXCEPTIONAL LEARNING.

Primary Years Programme (3 to 12 years)

What is the PYP?

PYP at a glance

The PYP is an international, transdisciplinary programme designed for students between ages 3 – 12 years (preschool and primary grades). It is designed to foster the development of the whole child, touching hearts as well as minds and encloses social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic welfare. The PYP is based on research about best teaching practices from all over the world and provides a relevant and engaging educational program.

PYP in ABIS

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is followed from the Early Learning Centre and culminates with the Exhibition in Grade 5.

Anton Bruckner International School’s approach to learning and teaching in the Primary School is guided by the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum framework.

IB-World schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Anton Bruckner Primary School believes is important for our students.

On board since May 2014

We have been officially authorised to offer the PYP since May 2014 and successfully completed our first IB Evaluation Visit in March 2018. The results of this most recent visit acknowledge the work we are doing as a successful IB PYP school. The Evaluation Report recommended us for having “built a stimulating learning environment based on understanding and respect throughout the school community“.

Towards the fullest potential

We believe students learn through inquiry and a concept driven curriculum. Primary students at ABIS are encouraged to think critically, develop strong problem-solving strategies, a sense of agency and self-efficacy. We develop international mindedness and promote taking action as a result of the learning process. We are committed to creating learning environments that are stimulating and provocative. Our teachers come from all over the world and regularly participate in professional development to ensure we are lifelong learners, engaging in the most recent effective practice.

Our commitment to students in the PYP is to nurture, inspire and challenge each individual to achieve their full potential.
